Marine
Oil, gas, and various chemical products are loaded onto vessels and transported worldwide. These vessels pose occupational safety and health risks due to confined spaces, fuel leaks, and cargo.
As a result, international regulations have been established for vessels, one of which includes gas detection. Additionally, the transition of vessel fuels to methanol, ammonia, and hydrogen is underway and gaining attention.
Our Strengths
Expertise and Industry Insights Tailored for the Marine Sector
There are a wide range of applications on board vessels for gas measurement, each associated with multiple laws, standards, and guidelines. Drawing from years of experience supplying products to the marine industry and insights gained through memberships in industry associations, Riken Keiki proposes the most optimal solutions for each vessel.
Complete Solutions for the Marine Industry
Our gas sampling systems are equipped with proprietary sensors designed to measure a variety of gases such as combustible gases, oxygen, and toxic gases. These systems are certified to multiple standards, including ATEX, MED, ABS, DNV, KR, and RINA.
We are capable of delivering not only gas detectors but also complete measurement systems, including control panels. Therefore, you can customize gas sampling panels to control all gas detectors at the measurement points specified by the SOLAS Convention.
Additionally, interference caused by inert gases (containing about 5% oxygen) used on vessels can be eliminated.
A Product Portfolio Covering Both Fixed and Portable Solutions
On board vessels, there are many applications for gas measurement, requiring the availability of various gas detectors tailored to each application.
A Versatile Range of Fixed & Portable Solutions
We can manufacture portable detectors that support up to eight applications with a single device, as well as gas sampling panels that cover all measurement points specified by the SOLAS Convention.
This enables a comprehensive gas monitoring solution for vessels, offering excellent cost-efficiency and ease of maintenance.
Some of the key technologies in our gas detectors specialized for the marine industry are:
Fixed:
Portable: The GX-9000 can simultaneously detect up to six gases, including four standard gases such as O₂, H₂S, CO, and hydrocarbons, along with a maximum of two additional customizable gases.
(There are approximately 1,000 possible sensor combinations.)
In addition to industrial gas management and toxic gas detection, it can measure VOCs, which are environmental pollutants.

Addressing the Measurement Demands of Next-Generation Fuels
The emergence of next-generation fuels is significantly impacting the marine industry. Ammonia and hydrogen fuel vessels are already being implemented and operationalized. This development has led to new safety regulations, driving the need for advanced gas detection technologies.
We actively propose and develop products that meet these emerging demands, while also carefully selecting the most suitable sensors for users from a wide range of sensor options.
Next-Gen Solutions for Next-Gen Fuels
In response to the measurement requirements for next-generation fuels, the existing management concentration levels for workspaces, along with new management concentrations, alarm systems, and shutdown devices related to atmospheric emissions and fuel management, have been added to maritime laws and regulations.
We design and manufacture both our detectors and sensors in-house, enabling us to better meet your specific and detailed needs.
